Under the company's Employee Share Ownership Scheme, 51 million shares were held in trust on behalf of 237,711 participants who were beneficially entitled to the shares.

(b)
Approximately 171 million shares were represented by American Depositary Receipts (ADRs), which are listed on the New York and Toronto Stock Exchanges, and a further 15 million shares were held by a nominee of the Tokyo Stock Exchange on behalf of investors. Analyses by classification and size of holding are not available for these holdings.

(c)
18.3% of the shares were in 2,247,621 individual holdings, of which 214,213 were joint holdings, and 59.8% of the the shares were in 50,075 institutional holdings. HM Government held 21.9% of the shares.
